Moab Music Festival
Frequently Asked Questions

Sandy, the Festival’s indispensable office assistant, knows just about every question you can think of concerning the Festival. Here is her list of most frequently asked questions and answers:
What is the exchange/refund policy for the Moab Music Festival’s tickets?
Tickets are non-refundable. If you are unable to attend a concert for which you have tickets, you can turn in the ticket(s) to the Festival office and receive credit as a donation to the Festival. If you have tickets to a concert that you cannot attend, you can exchange the tickets prior to the concert for another concert event. You will be charged the difference if the price of the second concert is more than the price of the ticket being exchanged. There will be no refund if the price of the second concert is less than the price of the ticket being exchanged.
Can I reserve seats for Festival concerts?
Seating for all of the Festival concerts is open seating. The doors generally open for the audience 15-20 minutes prior to the concert.
Can we bring food to the tent concerts?
No food is allowed in the tent. However, you may bring a picnic or other food to be consumed outside the tent before the concert or at intermission. Some members of the audience actually enjoy bringing their own chairs and sitting outside the tent for the entire concert. There is also a concessions stand at the tent concerts, selling pastries, beverages, and Moab Music Festival t-shirts, hats and CD’s.
How do I get to the Festival Tent on Onion Creek?
The Festival provides a free shuttle bus ride to the tent concert. The shuttle buses are boarded at the Lion’s Park parking lot located at the intersection of Hwy 191 and 128. The busses begin loading at 4:45 p.m. and leave the parking lot at 5:00 p.m. Parking is very limited at the tent site and we recommend that you take the shuttle bus.
Driving directions to the tent concerts are located on the venues page of the Festival website.
If I attend one of the Benefit dinners at Sorrel River Ranch or Red Cliffs Lodge, can I take the shuttle bus to the concert before the dinner?
For guests attending one of the benefit dinners following the concerts on 9/5 or 9/6, we recommend that you drive to the concert because the shuttle bus will not be operating from the restaurants. If you cannot drive to the concert and plan to attend the dinner, please contact the Moab Music Festival box office before the date of the concert and we will try to make arrangements for your transportation to and from the dinner following the concert.
What should I bring/wear to the Colorado River Benefit Concert?
Casual comfortable attire and walking shoes is the style of the day for the concert in the Grotto. You might also be more comfortable if you bring a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen, a rain poncho or jacket, folding camp chair or blanket to sit on for the performance, and a camera and film.
How much is the tax-deductible portion of the Colorado River Benefit concert ticket?
$125 of the ticket price is tax-deductible as a donation to the Moab Music Festival. You will receive a receipt confirming your donation following the Festival.
Are chairs provided for the Colorado River Benefit Concert?
Because it is an intimate and primitive setting, formal seating is not set up at the Colorado River Benefit Concerts. Many guests do bring folding chairs or pads to sit on and others prefer to sit on the rocks. If prior arrangements are made through the Festival office, a camp chair can be provided for you at Tag-A-Long Expeditions at the time of check-in for the concert. You are then responsible for returning the chair to Tag-A-Long following the concert.
What do people do about lunch if they are attending the Colorado River Benefit Concert?
We encourage guests to eat a hearty breakfast and/or bring a box lunch or snack to eat along the way to the concert. The reception following the concert commences at approximately 4:00 p.m. and includes beverages and appetizers.
What time do we get back to Moab from the Colorado River Benefit Concert?
You will return to the Tag-A-Long Expeditions office in Moab between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m.
Can I take pictures during any of the concerts?
Flashes from photographic equipment are distracting to the performing artists so no flash photography is allowed during performances.
How can I sign up to be a volunteer at the Festival?
Contact the Festival office at 435-259-7003. The Moab Music Festival uses volunteers at all of the concerts in the box office, directing parking, ushering, concession sales and clean up. Volunteers also help with distribution of brochures and posters before the Festival, office work including answering phones and selling tickets during the Festival. monitoring open rehearsals, and artist transportation and hospitality. Three or four times per year, the Festival has “mailing parties”, where volunteers help prepare the brochures and newsletters for mailing.
Do I get anything for volunteering?
All volunteers during the Festival receive a Moab Music Festival t-shirt. Volunteers who help at a concert receive free admission to that concert. For every three hours of non-concert volunteer work, volunteers earn a free ticket to a Festival concert. The real benefit of volunteering at the Moab Music Festival is the opportunity to work in an exciting and happy environment with other interesting people who love good music.
Is there a discount for student tickets?
Students age 5-18 can purchase tickets for all of the concerts (except the Colorado River Benefit Concert) for $5.00. Children under the age of five are not allowed at the concerts, except the Free Family Picnic Concert on Labor Day at Old City Park.
